The Bori Wildlife Sanctuary, which has an approximate area of 518 sq. km, came into being in the year 1977. It lies on the Southern slopes of the Satpura range in the Hoshangabad district of the state of Madhya Pradesh

There are many natural resources of water in the region like small streams and rivulets. There is the considerably large Towa River, near Bunglapura, which gets dried up during the dry months of summer, and what remain are few stagnant pools of water. Certain projections of the Satpura Ranges such as the Sakott hill and the Gottu Deo hills invade the area of the sanctuary. The forest floor, which slopes up and down principally, consists of fertile black cotton soil, mixed with sandy loam. However, in the hills, the soil is primarily made up of sandstones, shales and basaltic rocks.

The region of the Bori Wildlife Sanctuary has tropical dry deciduous forest that grows teakwood. Around Churna, Dhain and Bori there are huge areas covered by forests. The species of trees, which are mainly found here, are Anogeissus latifolia, Tectonia grandis, Terminalia sp, Adina cordifolia, Aegle marmelos, Mitragyna parvifolia, Manikara hexandra, Ficus sp., Lagerstroemia parviflora, Chloroxylum swietenia, Buchanania lanzan, Soymida febrifuga, Cassia fistula, Pongamia pinnata, Dalbergia sissoo, Dispyros melanoxlyon, Syzygium cumin and Grewia tiliaefolia.

All through the forests numerous climbing plants plants can be found that wound around the undergrowth vegetation. Epiphytic orchids like Vanda ressellata and Aerides odoratum as well as other parasites such as Dendriphthoe falcata, Scurrula philippensis and Viscum nepalense are pretty widespread on deciduous trees.
